Kyrenia Public Transportation..
If you are planning a holiday in Kyrenia, you will no doubt be wondering about how to get around. Public transportation in Kyrenia consists of busses and mini busses that run daily between all the towns and many of the larger villages. Bus fares are very cheap and a great way to mix with the locals, and of course get to see how they really live.
There is one downside to using the public buses, and this is that they may not be on time. Bus departures are very regular between the big and smaller towns especially during the day but it is worth noting that these times are not fixed. After 5pm public transport becomes less frequent and this is also true at weekends.
Another method of transportation is by service taxi or dolmus as they are known locally. They travel between all the local towns and villages also and are extremely reasonable. There are also regular taxis but it is advisable to discuss the price before setting out on your journey.
Car hire is another option available to tourists and is also extremely reasonable at approximately 12 GBP per day during peak season. A full driver’s license is required and to make things even easier you will be happy to know that Cypriots also drive on the left hand side of the road. There are a number of car hire companies to choose from in Kyrenia but you are advised to shop around for the best deal. If you plan on hiring a car make sure to check that all parts are working properly before you drive away, this includes the hand brake and indicators.
